The Story of Amirkan Asanovna Kochkorova
Amirkan Asanovna Kochkorova is a woman whose life story inspires and amazes. Born on October 27, 1962, in the small village of Kyzyl-Suu, Karasuu District, Osh Region, she is a wife, the mother of three sons and a daughter, and now also a grandmother to 14 grandchildren. She has traveled an extraordinary path, rising from being a simple employee to becoming one of the most respected businesswomen in Kyrgyzstan. Her journey, full of unexpected twists and challenges, is a testament to risk, dedication, and resilience.
After graduating from the Samarkand Corporate Institute and working for the Horpishchetorg enterprise in the city of Osh, her life took a sudden turn. The enterprise closed, leaving her family at a crossroads: to give up or to start anew. In a desperate attempt to change their fate, they moved to Russia, taking on various labor jobs at construction sites and saving every ruble. Their ultimate goal was clear—to return to Kyrgyzstan and start their own business. Those who knew her during those years could never have imagined that this modest woman would one day become the owner of two successful business ventures.
In 2004, after returning to Bishkek, she started her entrepreneurial journey at the Dordoi market, purchasing goods from China and selling them wholesale and later retail. The market was tough and unpredictable, but Amirkan had a unique ability to turn challenges into opportunities. Her business grew rapidly, but she was not one to rest on her laurels.
After passing on her trading business to her children, she set her sights on a new dream—running her own hotel business. Owning a plot of land but lacking the funds to build, Amirkan sought financing. As a long-time client of KICB, she learned about the “Mykty Aiyl” program, part of the EBRD’s “Women in Business in Central Asia” initiative. Seizing this opportunity, she applied for a loan and received 6 million som for 24 months at 24% annual interest. The loan process was completed within just three working days.
The decision to build a 20-apartment hotel from scratch seemed risky, even crazy. She put everything she had on the line, but her faith in success outweighed her fears.
Within a year, she completed construction, and her hotel complex became a magnet for tenants, many of whom remain her close friends to this day. However, her journey was not without hardship. Amirkan Asanovna faced countless challenges but always found the strength to move forward.
Today, her story is more than a tale of business success. It is a narrative about overcoming the impossible and turning the boldest dreams into reality
