KICB planted over 1800 seedlings with partners!
As part of the annual environmental initiative "Green Foundation", KICB together with the Foundation "Roza Otunbayeva Initiative" and the Aga Khan Development Network held a grand event - planting trees and shrubs on the territory of 12 educational institutions in the city of Bishkek and the Chui region: Secondary School No. 25, Secondary School No. 40, Preschool Educational Institution No. 21, Preschool Educational Institution No. 24, Preschool Educational Institution No. 29, Preschool Educational Institution No. 27, School-Gymnasium No. 1 named after Ch. Aitmatov, School No. 3, Chui boarding school, Kenbulun school named after Layliev, Secondary School named after K. Tabaldinov, Secondary School named after Lenin in the village of Gidrostroitel.
1813 seedlings of trees and shrubs adapted to the climate of the region, beneficial for children's health and air quality were planted: birch, willow, chestnut, elm, hibiscus, lilac, privet, pear, apple, currant, maple. Since the launch of the "Green Foundation" initiative in 2012, the total number of planted seedlings has exceeded 20,500.
The uniqueness of the Green Foundation initiative is that every year seedlings are planted exclusively on the territory of schools and kindergartens. This is no coincidence - it is in the educational environment that the foundations of a responsible attitude to nature are laid. By creating a comfortable, green and clean atmosphere for children, we not only improve the conditions for learning and development, but also form in them environmental thinking and a culture of caring for the environment from an early age. This is an important contribution to the sustainable future of Kyrgyzstan.
"Today, one of the most important problems in the world is ecology. Responsibility for its solution lies not only with citizens, but also with businesses, public and other institutions. Many companies strive to develop their business by implementing sustainable approaches, minimizing harm to the environment. KICB was one of the first in Kyrgyzstan to introduce corporate social responsibility and ESG principles into its strategy, considering them as a key area of its activity. Since its foundation, the bank has supported environmental initiatives, financed energy saving projects and provided support to socially vulnerable groups of the population. We want all generations of Kyrgyzstan to have the opportunity to live in an ecologically clean country and see all the beauty and biodiversity of our nature,” said Mr. Ali Arif, Chief Executive Officer of KICB, at the seedling planting ceremony.
The "Green Foundation" is a non-profit initiative implemented since 2012, the purpose of which is to green schools and kindergartens in Bishkek and other cities of Kyrgyzstan, as well as environmental education of children, forming their knowledge and values of caring for the environment.
